More Melting!!!

Life is good!  We have 16 hours of sunlight and the snow is rapidly melting off of the mountains that surround the valley.  The sun is rising at about 6 am and setting at 10 pm, which is great because now we had more time to get out.  Our interrnal clocks are already noticing the difference because we seem to be eating dinner later than usual and postponing our bedtime more and more each night.  Break-up has created several temporary ponds and lakes.  The field in front of our house now has two small ponds.  Lucy is thoroughly entertained with chasing the ducks and sand cranes from one pond to another.  This has become our new past time when we sit down to dinner.  We watch Lucy chase the birds back and forth.  You would think the birds would get tired of her and find another spot but they're not giving up haha.  We celebrated Kristen's 26th birthday with an amazing sushi dinner and a night of camping on the Matanuska river.  Only 18 more days of school and then our summer fun begins!  Here's some pictures of our last couple weekend trips.

Nate is helping with break up.

Katherine and I had a cold beer while we watched Nate push ice bergs down the river.

Hanging out by the fire.

My birthday present from Jay was New Belgium's newest beer, Shift.  It was great!  We're really missing our Colorado beers up here so it was a nice treat.

Driving back into the Mat-su valley.
The mini lake in our field.

Our next adventure will be buying a car, hopefully.  We're looking for a used car that will get better gas mileage than the jeep does.  I'm sure we'll be out and about if the weather stays nice.  Tootles!
