This mountian is called tin can and is pretty popular with anchorage backcountry skiers.
Beautiful day on turnagain pass!
Nate's friend Rob has only been snowboarding a couple of years but has no fear and usually looks for things like this 15 foot cornice to hit.
Lucy ready to run down the mountain.
Looking towards the turnagain arm.
Lucy getting tired while waiting for us to put our splitboards together.
woohoo!
Scouting an awesome looking untracked line down the side of the mountian.
We came back the next day after staying at a friend's cabin in girdwood. Not as clear as the day before but still tons of untouched snow.
All smiles at the top.
Jay and Rob bootpacked along the ridge for an awesome line. Nate and kristen stayed behind because Lucy can't be trusted on such sketchy terrain.
Here's some videos of the skiing. The videos really show you how big these mountains are. Runs go for miles and it would take us 15-20 minutes to go all the way down.
Such awesome snow!
Can you find Lucy's track?
We did a great untouched run down into the valley but that meant a long hike out.
No one seems too upset we have to hike out though.
Too beautiful not to just head back up again!
Here's some of the panoramics we got.
Thompson pass
Copper river valley and the Wrangell's in the back
Turnagain pass
Turnagain pass 2
Turnagain pass 3
After 9 days straight of snow chasing we ended up back in Hatcher's in our backyard for one last run before the real world and work starts again.
Until next time....tootles!
Nate, Kristen, Lucy and now Jay
