A Girdwood New Year's

After the christmas activities here in the valley we headed south a few hours to Girdwood, a very small ski town at the base of Alyeska resort. Ben's family cabin became home base for many of us to rest, have a few beers in the hot tub and get to some of the best backcountry skiing in Alaska a mere twenty minutes away in Turnagain pass.
Beginning the hike up Tincan with Ben and friends….not an easy hike.

Clouds in the valley
Summit, woot woot.
Amazing sea ice, when the tide goes out you can see ice canyons. Far beyond is the pink remote mountains across cook inlet.
Skinning up a remote mountain near Summit Lake.
My camera did a face plant in the snow minutes before this picture.  Plum, one of the dogs with us, was carrying  a huge stick and knocked over my camera attached to my ski pole.  The pink camera is a survivor.
A mystical look with the fog and low light.
Jay- the troll on top of the bridge. haha
BTW- Santa brought Lucy a GoPro harness, so she will be bringing you some epic footage  this spring.

Our friend, Seth, took the following pictures with his mega cannon camera.  This has inspired Kristen to start bringing her new Cannon Rebel.
