Hanging on to Fall in AK

At the beginning of September we had tons of rain.  You have to be really determined not to let the weather ruin your plans in Alaska, so nonetheless we drove up to Denali State Park to pick blueberries.  It sprinkled on us but we made it out with a few bags of blueberries, and then it started pouring when we got back to the teardrop. Our first snow was a few weeks ago, so we decided to go for a hike up at Hatcher's Pass.  When we got up there we realized there was enough snow for snowshoeing already!  Luckily we've had some nice sunny days and most of it has melted off in the valley.  The mountains surrounding us are covered with snow.
Pretty colors in Denali State Park.

Weird looking mushrooms.
Zoned in on blueberries!

Sunset at the house.

Moose!

Hatchers Pass 1st snow

It was a really clear day

Lucy chased the ptarmigan all over the mountain.  She had a good day :)
Nate was catching some rays before we lose the sun.

We're excited to get up here for some skiing.

Hiking up the Butte.  The knik glacier is in the distance.

Lola and Lucy.
It was kind of a windy day so there's lots of glacial silt in the air.
We've been getting back into the work routine lately so not too many pictures or adventures but winter is right around the corner and we look forward to exploring the backcountry on skis. Stay warm everybody!
